A Baking First…

I thought about using this post to complain about the return of humid, summery weather… but I won’t! Those of you who know me.. know that I’m a hot weather sook. :-/

This is a “prelude-to-savoury-baking” post! I’m going to attempt something this afternoon I’ve never done before. Stay tuned.. assuming all goes well ;-) –I’ll post photo’s!

[Thinking aloud] My digestion at the moment is sooooo slow. I’m not sure white flour is what I should be having right now.. but.. (change subject)!

Last night at the marriage course “Butter Chicken” was served for mains. Mine & hubby’s were ordered to be something else (ie. sans dairy). Basically a tomato-ey chicken curry. I think some of my chicken thigh meat wasn’t cooked through. Hence why I left some suspicious gristley spit-balls on the side of my plate. And all of my rice too because the basmati was sadly crunchy. It needed about 7 minutes more on the stove. I longingly eyed the pot of yoghurt on our table but didn’t touch it. It’s the whole avoiding dairy where possible (the liver cleansing thingy). But I soothed myself with the imitation consolation prize of a couple of elephant ear style pappadums. One thing I learned when I went vegan for a few months back in 2000.. is that I became a minority. I’m not vegan now but I’m avoiding some animal products. You stand out a bit.. and anywhere you go.. “special requests” become your friend. I hate that. Even after you submit your request.. people get it wrong.. bless their “can’t-cook-for-freaks” hearts. And what usually is served is no consolation prize for the “real” meal that everyone else around you is eating. Anyway.. postive thoughts, positive thoughts.. I’ll get back to you within the next couple of days re: my savoury baking afternoon. :-)
